PANDEMIC COVID-19 Update

May 8, 2020

 

Dear WRV Students and Parents:

 

Thank you for your hard work and flexibility that we’ve all had to practice during this unprecedented time of the pandemic.  Yesterday, we completed the new assignment portion of our Extended E-Learning program.  Students will have until Friday, May 15th at 3PM to complete any assignments.  Teachers will be available all next week from 9-Noon to continue working with students.

 

There are plenty of announcements for you regarding wrapping up the 19-20 school year.  They are as follows:

TECHNOLOGY DROP OFFS:  Any student with a WRV owned iPad will need to turn-in the iPad, Keyboard, and Charger.  We will have personnel at the school on Thursday, May 21st and Friday, May 22nd from 5-7PM.  You will simply pull-up to the front door (HS and MS) and the backdoor (ES), hand your technology equipment to our worker, and be on your way. You won’t even have to get out of the car.  The iPads and Chargers are all barcoded, which will make this process extremely easy for you.  You will need to turn the equipment in at the specific school your child attends. 

LOCKER CLEAN-OUT/DESK CLEAN-OUT: If you (students) or your child (parents), still have materials that you need to pick-up from the locker/desk/classroom, you will be able to do so on the following dates at any of the three schools:

Students Last Name of A-M   July 1 and 2     8AM-Noon

Students Last Name of N-Z   July 1 and 2     Noon-3PM

REPORT CARDS:  Report Cards will be issued and released on Friday, May 29th.

SUMMER SCHOOL:  Face-to-face summer school will not be held as usual in June.  We will, however, offer APEX/Credit Recovery in June at the high school level.  Email Mr. Lewis (dlewis@wrv.k12.in.us) or Mrs. Mansfield (tmansfield@wrv.k12.in.us) if you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity.  It will begin with device pick-up on June 1st from 5-7PM at the HS front door and conclude with device drop-off on June 26th.

We are also looking at a program at our elementary school and middle school that would be a jumpstart to the 20-21 school year.  Look for details from the school principals regarding this program.

SENIOR EVENTS:  At this time, our Prom will be held on July 18th and our Class of 2020 Graduation will be held at July 25th at 10AM.  Both of these events are pending approval from the Greene County Health Department.  Seniors will be receiving more information in a letter (both email and form letter) next week.  Please be sure to check the Google Classroom on a weekly basis.

KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP/REGISTRATION:  We have already held our normal Kindergarten Round-Up.  Parents who missed those activities can still register by email WRV ES principal Jill Staggs at jstaggs@wrv.k12.in.us.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION:  Parents who would like to enroll new students for the 20-21 school year can do so by contacting any of our three principals by email or phone call:

ECA/ATHLETICS:  The Governor and the IHSAA have closed down all activities through June 30th.  Coaches and Mr. Greenlee, our athletic director, will be in contact with athletes and parents as we get through June.

WOLVERINE ACADEMY:  They say that being copied is the extreme form of flattery.  Since we opened our Wolverine Academy five years ago for students to take advantage of virtual education opportunities, other neighboring schools have followed.  If you are interested in our virtual school opportunities, please contact WRV HS principal Doug Lewis or Claire Records, our Wolverine Academy coordinator (crecords@wrv.k12.in.us). 

 

Again, we greatly appreciated the work of students, parents, and teachers during this time.  We look forward to hopefully getting back to some sense of normalcy for the 20-21 school year.  We are excited about launching our new program models at the elementary and middle schools and the new THE WOLVERINE ENTERPRISES at the high school.  The first day of school for students for the 2020-2021 school year will be August 11th.  We will continue to communicate throughout the summer months as we continue to work through this situation.  Stay safe and healthy!!
